A.S.E.S.S. Funding is meant for social enterprise efforts that have their key issues figured out and need funding to help them get to the next level of their venture. To be eligible for funds, an organization must meet the following criteria:

  • Be based in Alberta and the initiative must provide social impact to Albertans;

  • Be either a qualified donee under CRA regulations or a non-profit organization;

  • The initiative must use business models – selling a product or service – to solve social problems;

  • The initiative must be post-ideation;

  • The initiative must address a gap in society;

  • The initiative must be taking ‘direct action’ to close a gap in society.

If you are interested in A.S.E.S.S. Funding and fit the above criteria, as a preliminary step, we ask that you please submit ideas through this form. Given the high volume of inquiries we get, we cannot respond to every submission and we also ask that you please refrain from contacting the Trico Foundation Team directly. Should the need arise to contact us, please email . If we see a potential match between your idea and our area of focus, you will hear from us within 10 business days.


Note: Indications of a potential match from the Trico Foundation are not the same as us agreeing to fund you and not all potential matches will be funded. This is simply a quick preliminary process that tries to spare you the effort of filling out an application if there is not a match between your idea and our areas of focus.  If Trico indicates there is a potential match, the next step is typically a conversation and/ or access to a formal application. Funding applications over $10,000 are reviewed on a quarterly basis.
