The Trico Charitable Foundation (TCF) is collaborating with the University of Manitoba (UM) to simultaneously honour its founder, Wayne Chiu’s, deep connection with UM (to learn more about this history click here and here and to advance social entrepreneurship (click here to learn more about the new Chiu Centre for Business Serving Community at UM’s Asper School of Business).
Part of that collaboration includes some exciting work with the Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship at the I.H Asper School of Business. Ironically, perhaps synergistically, like TCF the Stu Clark Centre was created by a Calgarian who had also been deeply affected by the UM, namely, Calgary’s own Stu Clark (scroll down to the About our Benefactor at https://umanitoba.ca/asper/stu-clark-centre-for-entrepreneurship) to learn more.)
The first step in the collaboration between TCF and the Stu Clark Centre was a webinar where our very own Dan Overall, Executive Director, was interviewed by the Stu Clark Centre’s Executive Director, Debra Jonasson-Young. The wide-ranging conversation covered:
1. What Is Social Entrepreneurship?
2. How Social Enterprise Differs from Traditional Models
3. Business, Purpose, and Society
4. Impact Investing
5. The Role of Policy, Education, and Ecosystems
6. A Vision for the Future
7. Final Takeaway: We must make sure we are worthy of the moment that is facing us
