When is the last time you took a vacation that included:
- – exploring a historic fishing village
- – whale and bird watching
- – sleeping in a heritage home lit by oil lamps
- – witnessing a parade of massive icebergs
If your answer is never, I suggest you look into taking a trip to the restored historic village of Battle Harbour, Labrador.
Operated by the Battle Harbour Historic Trust, the restored fishing village of Battle Harbour commemorates Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich social and cultural history. Visiting this unique social enterprise allows guests to experience what life was like during the 18th to 20th centuries. In addition to numerous historic premises and walkways, Battle Harbour also houses a collection of over 500 artifacts related to the fishery and everyday life.
Whereas most historical tourist destinations only allow you to tour their facilities, Battle Harbour offers visitor accommodations in six of their restored buildings. Considering whales and icebergs visit the area each year, you’d miss out on half the fun if you didn’t stay at least one night!
