#FF: Follow Friday @FHSNL from St. John’s, NL

Does your family have links to Newfoundland and Labrador that you’re interested in exploring? Perhaps you’d like to find out about your great-grandparents, who were married in Corner Brook. Or maybe you need to know what year your great aunt was born in St. John’s. If your genealogical questions can only be answered by conducting research in Canada’s easternmost province, you should check out the Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (FHSNL).

FHSNL is a non-profit organization that helps researchers locate and gain access to genealogical resources. Becoming a FHSNL member allows you to simplify your family history research by gaining access to a large collection of documents, historic records, journals, family histories, and cemetery transcripts. You will also receive a subscription to The Newfoundland Ancestor, which is a quarterly journal that contains a section where members can publish their family research questions.

If you don’t live near St. John’s, there’s no need to worry! FHSNL membership provides access to documents that you can download from anywhere. No matter where you live now, FHSNL can help you trace your family history in Newfoundland and Labrador.

To find out more about the Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, check out their website http://www.fhsnl.ca/ and follow their updates on Twitter via @FHSNL

Ps. If you have a favourite Canadian social enterprise to share with us, we’d love to hear from you in the comments section!
