#FF: Follow Friday @nkmipcellars from Osoyoos, British Columbia

If you’re looking for something special to toast Canada’s 144th birthday, I highly suggest you pick up a bottle of Nk’Mip (pronounced in-ka-meep) Cellars wine. Not only is Nk’Mip North America’s first Aboriginal owned and operated winery, but they’ve also received over 50 international awards for their wines. Having visited the Nk’Mip winery a few years ago, I have to admit that I savored every last drop I was offered in the tasting room (and took a few bottles home too!).

Located on 1,200 acres of band land, Nk’Mip Cellars is part of the Osoyoos Indian Band’s long-term plan that includes a variety of accommodations and visitor experiences. The 18,000 square foot winery overlooks the shores of Osoyoos Lake, and has the capacity to produce 162,000 litres of both red and white wine. No matter what varietal you prefer, you’re sure to find an Nk’Mip wine that pairs perfectly with your Canada Day celebrations.

Cheers and happy birthday Canada!
