The Skoll Centre at the University of Oxford; RECODE, an initiative of the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation; and the Trico Charitable Foundation, are partnering to bring the Global Challenge to Canada. We’re inviting Canadian higher education institutions to run the Global Challenge at their school, with the support of tools provided by the Skoll Centre. The Global Challenge offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to learn more about the issues they care about and present their findings to the world – and win some awesome prizes!

New Brunswick Student Brings Sustainable Energy to Cameroon

Students Brew Environmental Innovation through Coffee Cups

Green Cup is a new project started by post-secondary student Austin (Ozzy) Lang and co-founded by his colleague Emily Bartlett. This for-profit endeavour aims to make a positive impact on the environment by creating compostable coffee cups. Calgary does not currently have a compost system, so these cups are thrown out in bins labelled with the Green Cup logo and instructions for disposal.

Calgary Proclaims September 16 “Social Entrepreneurship Day”

To commemorate the first official Social Entrepreneurship Day in Calgary, Trico Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce $700,000 in local social entrepreneurship programming.

ShelterBox, Leading the Field in Humanitarian Shelter Provision: A Social Venture of Beakerhead 2016

Since then, the organization has grown into a global leader in providing high-tech shelter solutions and supplies to families in over 100 countries around the world.
