Trico Foundation & Social Entrepreneurship: 2023 in Review

Happy New Year! The start of 2024 gives us the opportunity to reflect and learn from 2023. The past twelve months were busy, historic, and made great progress in advancing both social entrepreneurship and Calgary’s role as a hub for social entrepreneurship:

Delivered over $950,000 to social enterprises and social enterprise ecosystem development in Canada to advance social entrepreneurship in Canada;
Piloted our first A.S.E.S.S. Integrated program with a cohort of five organizations;
Joined International call for improved funding practices;
Wayne Chiu, Founder of The Trico Charitable Foundation received University of Manitoba’s Honorary Degree;
Published two articles in international online social entrepreneurship magazine Pioneers Post;
Reviewed 2013’s “Three Things Public Policy Needs to do for Social Enterprise to Thrive in 2023″, 10 years later;
Spotlighted IRP recipients; and
Started an Ask Me Anything About Social Enterprise (AMAASE) blog series setting it off with “What is the definition of social enterprise?”
